Bio

Jason Molin, or J, is an Austin-based singer/songwriter who shows off poetic lyrics with a sophisticated variety of styles. He’s a folkie that grooves reggae, folk-rock, dub, and jazz, and holds it all together with his smooth tenor and honest approach.

J learned to sing in church choirs and school choruses. After starting on his dad’s trumpet, he got a guitar for his 16th birthday when he started writing songs and playing at church. While at NYU he played open mics on Bleeker St. In Austin (where he’s lived for the last two decades) it was the Cactus Cafe and Ruta Maya.

In 2008 he began playing a new kind of gig, bringing his folk music to idyllic outdoor settings, preferably by the water, at sunset. His shows are synonymous with great outdoor settings, fun, relaxation, and meditation. In the Summer of 2014 J started holding Sunday Singalongs in parks around Austin.

His first album – j – came out in 2006 and his second album – FOK DUB – in 2011. He’s currently writing songs for an album titled MANTRAS.
